Interlude
Today is the $10k Ladies Championship at the WSOP. As legally required by the state of Nevada, men are allowed enter the tournament. Women, however, are given a 90% discount.
If crashing a ladies event doesn't sound appealing, there are other options available for the enthusiastic tournament poker player.
The Wynn is hosting the first flight of it’s popular Mystery Bounty event with a $2,200 entry fee and a $2M prize pool guarantee. If you don’t want to play a multi-day event, or bounties aren’t your thing, The Venetian has a one day $1,100 MonsterStack with a $150k guarantee. Or there’s a daily $400 at Aria, with a $40k guarantee. And for the night owls, there’s a $150 Super Stack with a $20k guarantee at The Orleans.
I am at none of these.
Instead, I am at cruising altitude somewhere over Arizona, hoping to get a glimpse of the Grand Canyon out the window.
I’m on my way back home, a scheduled respite timed to coincide with Fall Break and my son’s birthday. After ten days in Las Vegas and over a hundred hours at the tables, I’m looking forward to some rest. To hug my wife and kids, to sleep in my own bed, to eat home-cooked food.
I am lucky that my Southwest flight wasn’t canceled due to the operational challenges that affected hundreds of others today. I am luckier still when I see the smiling faces waiting for me when I come through the door.
Time to recharge. I’ll leap back into battle in a few days.
